The Van:

  • Bluetooth, hands-free calling, CD player, Aux cable, USB adapter

  • Tow haul with 5,500 towing capacity with hitch and adapter

  • Back doors include two windows

  • The van has a clean history and no accidents since we’ve owned it.

  • 136’’ Wheelbase

  • ~68k, can give exact number on request

The Conversion:

  • Insulated with 1.5-2’’ rigid foam board, spray foam to fill the gaps and 3M Thinsulate to fill hard to reach areas. Fully insulated! Sound deadening material on floor and walls underneath insulation to help while driving.

  • Subfloor and floating life proof flooring, dark brown/grey.

  • Fridge: Dometic CFX 95 with 85L capacity, dual cooling compartments and ability to freeze to -7 degrees F. DC and AC power accepted and is ultra quiet. USB port and Wifi to control with an app. This thing is amazing and pulls very little power. It’s huge and has compartment separators, so you can really use all the space without taking everything out when you need something at the bottom. Slides out from underneath bed on Dometic slider.

  • Cedar tongue and groove paneling on walls & ceiling. Beautiful and anti-microbial, so you don’t have to worry about it rotting even in humid/wet environments. Ultra thin to maximize inside height.

  • Bed is a 4’’ memory foam bed from IKEA. The size is a full mattress and we added about 8’’ of extra foam bedding to the width. Measures closer to a queen size. (Brand new waterproof mattress cover will be put on bed before purchase.)

  • Lighting: 4, 12V puck lights controlled by switch (they draw almost no power), 12v under cabinet and under bed strip lights for extra lighting. On separate dimmer switches for dual control.

  • Swivel passenger captain seat. Swivels 180 degrees to face back of van

  • Four Upper storage cabinets above bed & kitchen

  • Reflectix magnetic window coverings (removable)

  • Maxxair Fan 5100K. 3 settings for speed and 2-way airflow. Can be used while it’s raining too!

Power:

  • Yeti 1400 Lithium power station includes pure-sine wave inverter, which provides safe, clean power for all electronic devices. It provides the same continuous power (1500W) as an inverter generator with nearly double the surge capacity (up to 3000W), wi-fi controlled to control with an app.

    • Add-on: Lithium MPPT Solar Charging Optimization Module. Optimizing charge by up to 40%

    • More info here

  • Fusebox with all DC powered items connected going to the Yeti. Extra DC powered options available on fusebox.

  • 2 Goal Zero 100W Solar panels totaling 200W on top of roof.

Dear Jasper,

Like most things in life—fast melting ice cream or alpenglow for instance—it’s time to tie a bow on this fling of ours and go our separate ways. Fueled by adventure, we got busy making plans that captured our imagination building out our dream home away from home on wheels. The process overshadowed both the sweat equity and countless trips to Home Depot. Somewhere along the 40k miles driven in the 2+ years shared together, we came to realize that experiences are the stuff of life and our suspicion around #VanLife quickly faded into the rear view. The time-honored tradition of a road trip westward bound however served as a constant reminder that there always will be some things money simply can’t buy no matter the rig. All that’s needed is a healthy inclination towards the unknown and a partner in crime. From the towering redwoods that throw your head all the way back like you do at the dentist’s office to Big Sur’s dizzying highway that zig-zags along California’s western coast to the iconic tunnels that transport you to Yosemite’s otherworldly valley floor and the Sierra-cement covered passes guarding Lake Tahoe, we’re eternally grateful for the places, faces and stories you’ve brought into our atmosphere. Thank you for being our trusted steed through it all...even that one time we got a flat in the middle of the Mojave Desert. In light of the freedom that Mother Nature offers, there’s no better entertainment that can be found than the awe-struck views your windshield provides; no sounder nights of sleep had than under the ever-changing horizon turned ink black nights that blanket your star-speckled skies; no closer feeling of nostalgia to Christmas morning than waking up to the granite monoliths of El Capitan in a climber’s Shangri-La. While this chapter of ours draw to a close, your next one has yet to be written. We hope you find a road warrior who’s up for the challenge.

Much love,

Nate & Annie
